Categotry Archives: Dossier

Holy crap, we’re not ready, we’re not ready, we’re not ready!

Whoa!  We aren’t even close to being ready to travel, let alone ready for Macey to come home. I mean, we are in our hearts and in our best intentions, don’t get me wrong, but now that there’s a definite timeline involved, we are quickly realizing just how much we have to get done. First and foremost, the reason I’m freaking out is that we got our next level of approval, the I-797 which is the provisional approval for the [...]

Review Room

There’s been a little movement with our dossier.  We found out last week that we were out of translation and in process which means we are now in the review room.  Once our dossier is reviewed and approved it will be moved to the matching office which is where the LOA is issued.  LOA is a big deal!  It’s the official, official letter from the CCCWA approving us to adopt our child.  It’s also the official document (I’ll post a [...]

So what’s up with the adoption?

I have been getting lots of questions in person about what’s going on with Macey and the adoption process so I thought I would give a quick update on our adoption blog ..about the actual adoption.  Imagine that.  There really isn’t anything going on right now other than we’re just waiting on the next step, which is LOA.  Hence the reason my posts have been about all sorts of random topics and not specifically the adoption process or Macey.  Honestly, [...]

DTC, now what?

I almost don’t know what to do with myself.  I have free time and no longer obsessing over documents and deadlines, waking up in the middle of the night with the thought one little detail I need to take care of, etc.  It’s a strange, yet welcomed feeling. Now we wait patiently for LID and LOA, the next two big hurdles.  All the while doing nothing on our part but starting to actually prepare for Macey to come home. It’s [...]

The Dossier has left the building!

Yesterday was a marathon of errands and somehow everything fell into place.  Not in quite the order I would have liked, but the end result was achieved, and that’s what matters the most. I headed into the city with our little guy directly from our big kid’s drop off.  Not even a stop for coffee.  Mommy meant business!  We got to the consulate in about 40 minutes, found a parking spot up front and headed in. Everything was looking great [...]

What in the world will I do after DTC?

There’s a good chance I’ll be done with the paperwork in a matter of days.  So few that I can count them on one hand.  Even though the light is at the end of this tunnel, it’s still hard to imagine reaching it.  I spend at least some part of each day reading, reviewing or completing paperwork. Or simply being a nutjob and re-reading, re-reviewing or re-doing it! I decided to go ahead and high tail it to Sacramento and [...]

Problem / Issue / Confession

I have a few issues going on right now but I’ll start with the first one, which is that my husband has 2 middle names.  What?  You think that’s crazy?  Yeah, me too. You don’t even really need 1 middle name, so why 2?  I have always thought it was a little much and now, of course, it’s causing problems.  It was inevitable.  Things were coasting along a little too smoothly for a while. PROBLEM – Parker’s big, long, fancy [...]

Yay, yay for PA!

This just goes to show, you never really know when the process is going to surprise you. I spent the morning much like any other Monday morning. Dropped off the little guy, then the big guy. Hit the gym.  Ran some errands.  Picked up the little guy, had lunch and a promised trip to Starbucks.  We then hit a cute little shop in the creek for a much needed booster seat for the big kid. He may very well be [...]

Waiting for PA

We finally got confirmation from our coordinator that our on-line application went in.  Now we wait for PA (pre-approval).  I have a feeling it will take a little longer than normal. Buzz on the blogs and forums is that the CCCWA has reorganized yet again. Some say they moved and disconnected all phones and computers. So even dossiers that went in 2-3 weeks ago have yet to be logged in. Our coordinator said she expects to get the PA in [...]

A..D..D..

I am a total mess now.  You’d think it would have gotten better now that we have made our decision but it’s sort of a mish mash now.  What the heck do I do next?  I’m still all jittery.  A mix of sleep deprivation & mental/emotional depletion with a sprinkle of nerve ending reconnection by way of emotional decision completion makes for a little anxiety and much excitement.  A foggy headed emotional hangover is about where I’m at now.  I’m [...]
